Astrakhan State Medical University (ASMU) is one of the oldest and most prestigious medical universities in the Russian Federation, established in 1918
1. Eligibility Criteria

Age
You must be at least 17 years old by December 31 of the admission year. Some sources also mention an upper age limit of about 25 for Indian applicants. -
Academic Qualifications
Completion of 10 + 2 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English from a recognized board. -
Minimum Marks
General category: ≥ 50% aggregate in PCB; Reserved (SC/OBC/ST in India): ≥ 45%. -
NEET Requirement (for Indian students)
NEET qualification is mandatory, though there is no fixed percentile cutoff—students simply need to pass. -
Language
MBBS is offered in English medium for international students; IELTS/TOEFL is not required. -
Medical Fitness
Applicants must submit a medical certificate, including a valid HIV-negative test result.
2. Admission Procedure
a. Pre-Application & Registration

Fill out the online application on ASMU’s portal or via its electronic entrant system. Alternatively, you can apply in person or by post.

Upload or submit scanned copies of required documents, including passport, academic records, NEET scorecard, etc.
b. Document Verification & Admission Letter
After your documents are reviewed, you'll receive an Admission Letter within about 7 working days. Within roughly 15 days, you'll need to submit original documents, after which an official Ministry Approval Letter, University Invitation, and Accommodation Letter will follow.
c. Tuition Fee Payment & Visa Invitation
Once you have ministry approval, you must pay the first-year tuition fee to the university’s account. The university then issues your official invitation letter for your Russian student visa.
d. Visa Application & Travel
Using the invitation, apply for a student visa at your country’s Russian Embassy. After visa issuance, inform the university of your arrival plans, complete migration registration, and proceed to enroll and register in Astrakhan.
e. Start of Academic Program
Attend orientation and start classes as per the academic calendar, typically around September or June intake.
3. Required Documents
